Privacy Policy

1. Scope

Bedbug Earth helps people find and share information about reported bedbug encounters at accommodations and other places. This policy applies to information processed through the Service. It does not apply to third-party websites, maps, sign-in providers, or other services that may be linked from the Service.

2. Information we collect

Information you provide

• Account information. When you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive an account identifier and any name or email address that the provider shares with us. You may also choose a display name and avatar.
• Reports and submissions. If you submit a bedbug experience, we collect the place you select, its location and address, your description, a source link or up to three photos, and the information needed to process the submission.
• Photo location data. When you take a report photo in the app and grant location permission, the photo submission may include its capture location, accuracy, and capture time. Photo location is uploaded only when you submit the report.
• Saved places. We store places you mark as favorites so they can be shown in your account.

Information from your device and use of the Service

• Current location. With your permission, the app uses your current location to show nearby places. You can decline or revoke this permission in your device settings.
• Service and security data. We process device and session information needed to authenticate requests, prevent abuse, operate the Service, and keep it secure.
• Advertising data. The app displays advertising through Google Mobile Ads. Google and its partners may process information under their own privacy policies and the choices available through your device and Google’s advertising controls.

3. How we use information

We use information to provide and improve the Service; create and manage accounts; display maps, reports, and saved places; process and review submissions; prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents; show advertising; and comply with applicable legal obligations.

4. Public reports

Reports submitted to Bedbug Earth may be reviewed and then displayed publicly with place information, report content, source links, and photos. Do not include personal, sensitive, or confidential information in a report or photo. Content you make public may be copied, shared, indexed by search engines, or viewed outside your country.

5. When we share information

We share information with service providers that help us operate the Service, including authentication, mapping, hosting, storage, and advertising providers. We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect rights, safety, and security, or in connection with a corporate transaction. We do not sell personal information for money.

6. Retention and account deletion

We retain information for as long as needed to provide the Service, meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, and protect the Service. You can request account deletion from the app. We revoke account access immediately and retain the account for a 30-day recovery period before permanently deleting account records. Published reports may remain available after account deletion without being linked to your account.

7. Your choices and rights

You can manage location and camera permissions through your device settings, edit your profile in the app, and delete your account from the app. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict the processing of your personal information. Use the support channel on our App Store listing to submit a privacy request.

8. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Children

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the Service changes or as required by law. We will post the updated version here and revise the “Last updated” date.
